“Round the coast to Broadhaven, and back again
Through storm clouds we’ll soldier on through…
…Only the sea makes sense.”

“Only The Sea Makes Sense” – Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci

Our first longer trip in the van! It being the end of October in Wales we were expecting mainly wet weather and maybe the odd sunny day, but after a couple of stormy nights at the very beginning we were blessed with glorious sunshine that got warmer as the trip went on.

Sophie had a poetry performance in Cardiff on the Thursday night, so we decided to start there and travel back north by hugging the Welsh coastline as much as possible… We visited (amongst others) Cardiff, Swansea, Mumbles, Worm’s Head, Pembrey Forest, Carmarthen, Laugharne, Tenby, Barafundle Bay, Freshwater West, Pembroke, Milford Haven, St Ann’s Head, Porth Mawr, Wooltack Point, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Newgale, St David’s, Aberieddy, Fishguard, Cardigan, Aberystwyth, Borth, Barmouth, Criccieth, Chwilog, Pwhllheli, Abersoch, Bodermid, Whistling Sands, Newborough, Llanddwyn Island, Trearddur, South Stack, Amlwch, Cemaes, Red Wharf Bay and Bangor.

We slept on beaches and in forests, saw beautiful hidden away places and glorious sunsets, spotted bathing seals, saw choughs and red kites, surfed in big waves and hiked in the sun. A perfect ten days and can’t recommend it high enough.

I’m not great with words, so I’ve picked a batch of my favourite photos to show you what happened.
