New tracks from Mr Phormula
There doesn't seem to be a day that goes by without Welsh hip-hop artist, beatboxer, and producer Mr Phormula finishing a new track. This month proved to be no different for Ed Holden, aka Mr Phormula - a familiar face to many on North Wales’ music scene. This prolific artist regularly features on Radio 1 Wales and recently flew out to Los Angeles, courtesy of S4C, to record two new tracks for Y Diwygiad’s debut album with legendary producer Daedelus.
It's not an overstatement to say that Mr Phormula’s influence is helping to define a whole new generation of Welsh hip-hop, particularly when you consider this relatively limited genre, and then look at the hugely successful bands that this artist is involved with, including Genod Droog, Y Diwygiad and Speculum, to name a few.
Ed’s recently been holed up in his new studio just outside Penrhyndaedreath, North-West Wales, to work on some solo projects. These latest tracks, An Ocean Of Music and Voicebox Wizadry are built by Ed using just his mouth, a laptop and loopstation. You really need to experience a live performance to appreciate the sheer skill involved, but in the meantime Ed’s sent these tracks over for us to listen to…
