Concretedog
Another gem arrived at theAbsurd HQ a few weeks ago from the Warm Data label. Again it was from an artist we’d heard nothing about – Concretedog. His blog reads “Forged in the heart of a mountain concretedog seeks to serve up inspirations from time to time.”
The new six track EP entitled ‘Until Forever’ is described by the guys at Warm Data as, “…wonderfully wonky electronic soul music” – I couldn’t have put it better. So what's going on with Concretedog? Well it would seem that he’s creating sound out of any number of odd, and frankly quite strange instruments. From a Yamaha qy10 or pss6 to an old Nintendo Gameboy and a child’s trumpet, Concretedog is not afraid to use any of his collected contraptions in order to get the sound flowing.
All tracks are created from the artist's homegrown/ hacked/ modified and circuit-bent machines rescued from charity shops, bins, skips and car boot sales with some tracks also featuring hand-built electronic instruments. Brilliantly unique and creative, this EP is circuit-bending and experimental sound pushed to its limits.
You can listen to and buy the EP here.
