Saturday 5th December 2009 saw the birthday of one of north Wales’s greatest assets – Cob records Bangor turned 30. Since hitting Bangor High Street in 1979, and then becoming independent in 1995, Cob Records Bangor has been a mecca for many a music fan. Those who make the journey to Cob are never disappointed by the vast array of music on offer, whose size is matched only by the sheer volume of knowledge stored in the heads of Owen Hughes (Bandabacana) and Alan Holmes (Parking-non-Stop) who are always on hand. Any references to the characters in the film High Fidelity may be a cliché but they may well be correct.
Back to the birthday celebrations, Owen was very pleased with the turnout, he said, “It was a really successful day all round and we were busy.”
“Henry Priestman who has been performing since the late 70’s, originally with The Yatchts but who is perhaps more famous for being the main songwriter in The Christians, played a brilliant solo set.” Owen continued, “Henry’s been one of our customers for years, last year he brought out his own album Chronicles of Modern Life so it was great that he did a solo slot." "Bandabacana also performed an acoustic set that went really well, we saw loads of people who we haven’t seen in a while - it was generally just a great day.”

Cob Records Bangor will be continuing to stock a wide array of new and used CDs, DVDs and Vinyl, ranging from Classic Rock back catalogue to Dance, Roots, World music, Leftfield and Welsh Language. If you need advice then just ask, Owen and Alan’s breadth of knowledge and passion for music is second to none - and if you want to expand that vinyl collection this Christmas then get your orders in now...
