Mr Phormula
Ed Holden, aka Mr Phormula is a familiar face to many on the North Wales music scene. This prolific artist regularly features on programmes on Radio 1 Wales and S4C. He's worked with a huge number of massively successful bands - Y Diwygiad, Speculum and the recently disbanded Genod Droog to name a few. When not producing tracks at his new studio Ed will often be facilitating any number of hiphop workshops throughout the community as 808. This man just doesn’t need to sleep.

Iawn boyos and girls!
You are now tuning in to the wonkyfied Welsh language entity that is Ed.
It’s been a while since our last Welsh lingo shenanigans update, but here it is!
Well, Christmas is fast approaching, the weather’s crap and I guess most of you need some new Welsh lingo releases to keep you warm, well fortunately I have a nice update for you.
First up is the forthcoming hip-hop debut album from Pen-Ta-Gram (yes I know I’m in the band - So sue me) - released in December. Named as Twisted Tongues this is going to be a heavy hip-hop, multilingual affair, I can confidently tell you that this baby bangs out hard, turn it up when you get your copy! Hailed as the next generation of hip-hoppers from north Wales, the combined talents of Hoax Emcee, Dybl L, Mr Phormula, Killah Gorillah and Alex Moller-Rice leaves listeners in a warped fuelled up frenzy of real hip-hop madness!
Checkout our myspace for more info on gigs and downloads. This will also be the first release associated with my new record label Panad Products, all recorded and mastered at my sparkly new studio - Studio Panad. All this shall be complemented with a nice new website mrphormula.com coming very soon! Produced by my lovely friends here at theAbsurd.
Next up on the hip-hop front is the return of a legendary hip-hop producing, DJing tattooist from Jackland - the one known as Dekmasha-Slicerman of the Headcase Lads. Its been a while since we’ve heard anything from this wonky individual but rest assured he’s been hidden away in an underground nuclear facility where he has been furthering his skills as an artist. Now to emerge again with brand new Wonky Wax releases, a new solo album, gigs to follow and of course more Wonky freshness for your ears. Checkout his myspace for more info and also check this link out for a load of Slicerman/Headcase Lads freebies. Enjoy me ol’ muckers!!
Okay that’s the hip-hop bit out of the way! Now let us descend upon the chilled out realms of Yucatan. A band formed right here in the Gogs by some of Welsh languages most talented musicians. Known for their silky smooth sound and complemented by live strings, Yucatan are definitely in a league of their own when it comes to Welsh music. Their forthcoming e.p entitled Enlli shall be arriving shortly on a nice new slab of good old vinyl. Produced by John Lawrence, expect this release to be a high quality trip into a world of dreams. Checkout their myspace for release info and two free downloadable tracks from the forthcoming e.p. These guys are heavy with the gigging front so check them out at a venue near you soon!
Last but not least, I would like to welcome you to the Milky Way! Well, translating into Milky Way - Llwybr Llaethog have just released their 10th album! If you don’t know who these guys are by now, you need to seriously do your homework! Residing in Cardiff, this duo has been around since the early eighties, responsible for bringing electronic music to the Welsh masses, Llwybr Llaethog are hailed as legends in the Welsh music scene and fine chaps they are too.
With a roster of impressive Welsh language collabs under their belt, the new release titled Chwaneg is a psychedelic mish-mash journey into electronic hip-hop-dub-lob-scouse. Now if that doesn’t sound interesting I don’t know what does. Recorded, produced and mastered in house by the boyos themselves this album has a distinct unique sound that will tantalize the most fussy of ears.
Tracks like Planed Sonig feature the likes of Cravos, legendary Tystion front man, Nine Tonne (Diwygiad), Lews Tewns (Headcase Lads), all conducting silky smooth rhymes about the history of Welsh electronica. Ar fy Llw features the exquisite vocals of renowned jazz artist Lleuwen Steffan, the track draws you in to a world of shimmering smooth beauty. A must have for any cd collection, Chwaneg scores a healthy nine out of ten. Checkout their myspace for more info on gigs and releases.
Well, there you have it my budding Welsh music fanatics. Hope you’ve found a little something to keep your cd player warm this winter. Merry crimbo to all of you and I will catch you all again soon! bbbrrrrraaapppppp...
