Life Without Money
Everyone’s heard the old adage ‘Money makes the world go round’ right? What about ‘Money is the root of all evil’ heard that one too? Of course we all have, money is generally accepted as a part of life and as such is rarely questioned as our structure of exchange. But with 40% of the wealth in the hands of 1% of the people and the current global economic crisis to deal with, it has become our business to understand the cash flow. So suddenly, everyone’s an expert on banking and we all agree unanimously that at best, the system is unfair.
Virtually everything has a price these days and it doesn’t always guarantee value for money, businesses can make a quick profit by advertising scarcity with “Limited Stock”. Efficiency and abundance are enemies of profit, so how can we expect to live in a peaceful world with this system of economic growth? We can’t; it’s doomed, we’ve out grown the system both physically and mentally. Of course this isn’t just about banks, I could really lose my temper about Oil and Pharmaceutical companies too, with giants like that supporting governments financially it’s no wonder energy isn’t free and there are no cures, just painkillers.
So, let’s talk about a Resource Based Economy; Earth is bountiful and supports life, it has done for billions of years, that’s what’s going on here; we just need to learn how to share. There’s enough land and water, even with this bloated population. And as for food, that’s everyone’s business; we must all grow food again and share the surplus. Large-scale farming depletes the nutritional value, plus the chemical sprays cause untold damage to the environment and our health. Thankfully, last year food seeds out sold flower seeds for the first time since WWII, a trend that looks set to continue.
Tired of our rising energy bills rising again, we find ourselves looking for alternatives, many of which can be harnessed from our local environment causing no damage to the earth. So why won’t our leaders grant free energy for all? Because, it would damage the economy. They’re busy working on bio fuels because they can still charge us for them. See how we uphold these established institutions - way after they become obsolete? We must shift our focus from earning to giving. As long as money rules, there can be no sustainability, efficiency or abundance, only selfish, corrupt, competition, a “he who dies with the most cash, wins” kind of deal; It simply won’t do.
Money is the cause of all our problems on the earth today, either directly or indirectly because Money is a symbol of success, therefore those without it are failures. Welcome then pity, hunger, jealously, resentment, rage, hatred and violence all that and more brought about by the lack of money. Those with money and the power are no better behaved; Polluting waste is dumped willy-nilly to save money, privatised prison systems seek to make criminals of us all. And nothing gets a country out of a recession like a good war. You know its coming, don’t act surprised.
To continue life in this way is unthinkable for me, so as this world economy marches on toward certain doom, I’m opting out. I haven’t got my round house up and running yet but I’ve dreamed up a sustainable future for myself that I walk towards daily. I’m taking back my responsibilities and manifesting my own destiny. I used to believe the only way to be free of money was to first earn so much of it that you never have to think about it again. I was wrong. It is generosity and compassion we should be cultivating not cash. Money buys bread but the time has come to learn how to bake a loaf, maybe even how to build an oven to bake it in and then share that knowledge with your neighbours. I’ve heard people say, “Everyone wants to live like that but it’s never going to happen”. Well, it is happening for me, and millions alike. And it’s true, we cannot save everybody - but everybody can save themselves.
