We organise theAbsurd events, cabarets, tours and festivals in order to showcase the brilliantly talented artists from Wales. We love the weird and wonderfully avant-garde, as well as the more mainstream, art that’s constantly being created and performed in the towns and villages across north Wales and we’re doing our best to get as much of this at our gigs as possible. But really we organise these events because it’s the most fun we’ve ever had.

theAbsurd was born out of a desire to encourage change. Not great global change. Not the all-encompassing change that many activists seek. We wanted to cultivate change in our own lives. We wanted to step away from certain aspects of society and focus on the only thing that any person can really change – ourselves. But by doing this we realised something. We’re not the only people who feel this way, and as soon as we closed the door on our old lives, another opened.
The doorway we’ve now stepped through is as old as the Welsh mountains that surround us – it is the one that leads back to understanding self, to putting energies into the local community in which we live, to seeing the full importance of family and of being truly creative individuals within the short space of time allotted each of us on this Earth.
So many artists and activists in this area are constantly striving to be creative; pushing the boundaries of art and ideas; developing new ways of looking at the world and rediscovering ancient paths. This makes north Wales a vibrant, exciting, cultural place to live. Through sharing music, poetry and philosophy; through gatherings, fires and healing, each person becomes more inspired, more creative, more in tune with their community and environment – and this, in turn, feeds back out to others.
We’re not trying to change the world, but the world is changing. The sheer absurdity of the globalisation of our lives, our culture and our thoughts can’t help but influence the information, news and philosophies that we publish on this site. Now is the time for communities to come together to create music, poetry, philosophy and art that will shape our future in a more constructive way than any political party could ever dare to dream.
